Kangana Ranaut’s aerial action film, “Tejas,” is facing a significant decline in box office collections during its first week of release. According to early estimates from industry trackers, the film earned approximately ₹30 lakh on Tuesday. “Tejas” is encountering fierce competition from Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s “12th Fail,” which has now earned twice as much as “Tejas.”
Directed by Sarvesh Mewara, “12th Fail” has raked in a total of ₹4.50 crore. On Tuesday, Kangana’s film had a 5.80 percent Hindi occupancy, which is lower than the numbers from Monday. “Tejas” had opened at ₹1.25 crore but showed no significant improvement over the first weekend, experiencing a sharp decline on Monday.
In contrast, “12th Fail,” starring Vikrant Massey, continues to surprise film trade analysts. It made a substantial ₹1.75 crore on Tuesday, bringing its total earnings to ₹9.99 crore. The film is based on Anurag Pathak’s novel, which delves into the trials and triumphs of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma and IRS officer Shraddha Joshi.
“Tejas” features Kangana as Tejas Gill, an Indian Air Force pilot flying a jet with the same name on a mission with a corresponding name. The film’s underwhelming performance has left film trade analysts largely unimpressed, with one analyst stating, “It’s a bad film.”
As the box office competition unfolds, “12th Fail” maintains its momentum, while “Tejas” grapples with a disappointing run in its early days at the theaters. The stark contrast in their performances continues to be a topic of discussion among industry observers and moviegoers alike.
