Dhordo: The village of Dhordo, in the Kutch district of Gujarat, has been honored with the title of ‘Best Tourism Village’ by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO). Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his delight at this recognition, highlighting the village’s heritage and natural beauty. He took to social media platform X to share his joy and reminisce about his visits to Dhordo in 2009 and 2015.

In his post, PM Modi conveyed his excitement, stating, “I am absolutely thrilled to witness Dhordo in Kutch receiving deserved accolades for its cultural heritage and stunning natural surroundings. This recognition does not highlight India’s tourism potential. Also showcases the unwavering commitment of the people of Kutch. May Dhordo continue to shine as a magnet for visitors from all corners of the globe! I would like to share some memories from my visits to Dhordo in 2009 and 2015.”

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi extended an invitation to his followers, urging them to share their memories from trips to Dhordo in Gujarat. The objective is to inspire individuals to explore this captivating village. He encouraged everyone to use the hashtag #AmazingDhordo while promoting this enchanting destination.

The acknowledgment from UNWTO does not showcase the tourism prospects of India. Also emphasises the dedication of the residents of Kutch to safeguarding and exhibiting their cultural and environmental legacy. Dhordo, renowned for its abundance and scenic charm, is now ready to allure tourists from all corners of the globe thanks to this accolade.

Dhordo is a popular tourist destination for its stunning natural beauty, including the Great Rann of Kutch, a vast white salt desert. The village is also known for its rich cultural heritage, which is showcased during the annual Rann Utsav, a festival that celebrates the region’s traditional art, music, and crafts.

In addition to its natural and cultural attractions, Dhordo is also a model for sustainable tourism development. The village has worked to preserve its environment and culture, while also providing economic opportunities for local residents.
