Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation (MPIDC) has taken a significant step by revoking plot allotments made between 2016 and 2018 in the Bagroda Industrial Area, located near Bhopal. This decision was made due to the failure of industrialists to establish plants within the designated plots, even after a span of five to seven years. According to the stipulated regulations, these entrepreneurs were required to initiate operations within two years of obtaining the land.

In response to the cancellations, local industrialists argue that the government should consider granting an extension for the establishment of these plants, especially given the protracted timeline involved in the development of industrial zones. Bagroda Industries Association President, Navneet Vyas, has emphasized the need for leniency and expressed concerns about the adverse impact of plot cancellations, as this could potentially deter new entrepreneurs from investing in the region.

Of the 400 plots originally allocated in the Bagroda Industrial Area, only around 110 have seen industrial development. Industrialists attribute this delay primarily to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

MPIDC officials have outlined their plan to conduct an online allotment process for the reclaimed plots. They intend to receive applications through a designated portal and subsequently allocate plots based on the merit of the applications. Following allotment, a grace period of two years will be granted to entrepreneurs for the establishment of their industrial operations, allowing them to comply with the prescribed timeline more effectively.
