Goa: Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Friday, October 13, 2023, announced that Hollywood actor Michael Douglas will be conferred with the coveted Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award at the 54th International Film Festival (IFFI) Goa.

The Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award is the highest honor given at the IFFI Goa. It is presented to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the world of cinema.

Michael Douglas is a two-time Academy Award-winning actor, producer, and director. He is best known for his roles in films such as “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” (1975), “Fatal Attraction” (1987), “Wall Street” (1987), “Basic Instinct” (1992), and “The American President” (1995).

Douglas has also been involved in a number of successful television shows, including “The Streets of San Francisco” (1972-1977) and “The Kominsky Method” (2018-2021).

In a statement, Union Minister Anurag Thakur said, “Michael Douglas is a legendary actor, producer, and director who has made significant contributions to the world of cinema. The 54th IFFI Goa will be held from November 20 to 28, 2023. The festival will feature a wide range of films from around the world, as well as workshops, seminars, and other events.
