New Delhi: Election Commission of India held a press conference to announce the election dates for state of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan, and Telangana. Sh. Anup Chandra Pandey, Sh. Arun Goel, and Chief of ECI Sh. Rajiv Kumar.

Tweeting the schedule for the election, ECI announced that the election will be held in two phases in Chhattisgarh i.e. on 7th November and 17th November 2023. Election for Legislative assemblies of Mizoram is scheduled for 7th November, Madhya Pradesh is 17th November, Rajasthan is 23rd November, and Telangana is scheduled last on 30th November. The entire election process shall be completed on 5th December 2023.

“As we stand on the cusp of the elections, it is to be noted that these elections hold a crucial role in India”, said Sh. Rajiv Kumar. ECI has visited all these states to discuss the matter with DRI, Navy, Air Force, Narcotics, and representatives of political parties to prepare for the elections, added Sh. Rajiv Kumar.

While announcing the election dates, Sh. Rajiv Kumar said that the election will be held in 679 assembly constituencies, which constitute one-sixth of total constituencies in India and hold 16.14 crore electors.

Interestingly, there are 60.2 lakh first-time voters in these states. There are 17.34 lakh PWD voters, 24.7 lakh senior voters, and 32.410 centenarian voters who shall be allowed to vote from the comfort of their home. “From roll to poll” is the effort the Commission is undertaking, adds Sh. Rajiv Kumar.

Voters can change their details or get their voter ID rectified at BLO or ECI website from 17 October to 30 November 2023. ECI also announced the Election Seizure Management System, a tech platform for real time updates on seizures from the field by multifarious state and central enforcement agencies. This will help ECI help to compile and connect with various state specific enforcement agencies.
