Former Army chief and Union Minister VK Singh believed the eventual reunification of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) with India is not far off. Speaking at the Tiranga Rally For PoK organized by the nationalist Muslim organization, the Muslim National Forum, in the national capital, Singh emphasized the historical claim of India over PoK.

Singh stated, “It is important that we understand that PoK was our land, will remain ours and no one else will be able to occupy it.” He attributed the capture of PoK by Pakistan to British conspiracies during the partition era.

The Union Minister articulated his conviction that the desire for reunification will naturally emerge among PoK’s people, leading them to join India. The Tiranga Rally For PoK, which began at the Red Fort in Delhi, marks the commencement of over 100 such movements across the country advocating for the reintegration of PoK with India.

Senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Indresh Kumar also weighed in on the issue, asserting that it was the “mistakes” of the then Indian government, particularly former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, that allowed PoK to fall into Pakistani control.

Kumar stated, “At the time of partition, today’s PoK was in India. Due to the mistakes of the government of that time, it remained under the control of Pakistan…At that time, the Congress government and Pandit Nehru got trapped in the maze of the British in such a way that these mistakes happened.”

VK Singh’s remarks echo a consistent stance he has taken on PoK in the past, with him asserting that PoK will eventually merge with India through its own will. This viewpoint reflects India’s long-standing claim to PoK as an integral part of its territory.
