Bhopal: On Thursday, there was a statement made by Randeep Singh Surjewala, a Congress leader and General Secretary, regarding the assembly elections, in Madhya Pradesh. Surjewala pointed out that senior leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state seemed reluctant to participate in the elections, which has created a situation for the ruling party.

Currently, the BJP has officially announced 79 candidates for the elections, including known figures like Union ministers Narendra Singh Tomar and Prahlad Patel, as well as party general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya.

Surjewala, who is responsible for overseeing Congress’s activities in Madhya Pradesh, stated that it appears that the BJP is struggling to find suitable candidates for these elections. He further alleged that senior BJP leaders are actively trying to avoid entering the arena and are even persuading each other not to contest.

According to Surjewala, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia are making efforts to pressure their adversaries who are also Union ministers, into participating in the elections. He humorously referred to this situation as “We are drowning; we will take you along.”

Kailash Vijayvargiya, who has been nominated as a candidate from the Indore constituency, openly expressed his lack of interest in contesting this election. Surjewala expressed his disagreement, with Vijayvargiya’s disregard, for the voters implying that the public would react accordingly.
