On Day 6 of the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, India saw a mix of performances across various sports. The day began with Vikash Singh and Priyanka participating in the men’s and women’s 20km race walk events, finishing in 5th and 6th place, respectively.

In the field of shooting, the Indian team, consisting of Palak, Esha Singh, and Divya Thadigol, delivered a commendable performance by securing the silver medal in the 10m air pistol women’s team event. Palak and Esha also continued their impressive run by clinching gold and silver medals, respectively, in the women’s 10m air pistol final. Additionally, the Indian contingent comprising Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Swapnil Suresh Kusale, and Akhil Sheoran achieved a remarkable feat by winning the gold medal in the men’s 50m air rifle 3P team event.

However, there were some disappointments in tennis as Saketh Myneni and Ramkumar Ramanathan lost in the men’s doubles final, settling for the silver medal. On a brighter note, Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale managed to secure the bronze medal after winning their semi-final tie.

In athletics, India’s Rachna Kumari and Tanya Chaudhary competed in the women’s hammer throw final, aiming to add to the medal tally. Manpreet Kaur and Kiran Baliyan also had hopes of securing medals if they delivered their best performances.

As the Asian Games progress, both the men’s and women’s squash teams have guaranteed themselves at least bronze medals, and they are set to play their semifinal matches. India’s table tennis stars, including Sharath Kamal, G Sathiyan, and Suthirtha Mukherjee, are looking to make their mark as the men’s and women’s doubles and singles events get underway.

Moreover, the Indian women’s hockey team faced Malaysia, while world champion boxer Nikhat Zareen took on Hanan Nassar of Jordan in the women’s 50kg quarterfinals, adding to the anticipation and excitement of the day’s events.
