Bhopal: In an interesting move, the sacred water of the Ganges River, known as Gangajal, is set to play a role in the Madhya Pradesh elections. The Congress party has announced its intention to distribute bottles of Ganga water to around 10,000 households. They will kick off this campaign in the city of Indore. Gradually expand it across the state. However, the exact motive behind this distribution remains unclear at this point.

Led by Himanshu Yadav, who heads the party’s OBC cell in Indores Lok Sabha constituency, the distribution of Gangajal will begin in five assembly constituencies within Indore. In this phase, they plan to distribute 10,000 bottles of Ganga water. KK Mishra, State Congress media spokesperson, has indicated that they might start with Indore and then extend it statewide.

Apart from distributing Ganga water bottles, Congress also plans to hand out pamphlets that outline the 11 promises made by former Chief Minister Kamal Nath to benefit the people of Madhya Pradesh.

These commitments cover a range of issues, such as providing an allowance of Rs 11 for women ensuring affordable gas cylinders priced at Rs 1500, exempting electricity bills for up to 500 units offering subsidized electricity rates for consumption of up to 100 units providing debt relief for farmers restoring the previous pension scheme granting free irrigation electricity up to 200 horsepower forgiving farmers electricity bills allocating a 5 percent reservation for OBCs (Other Backward Classes) ensuring uninterrupted irrigation through 27 hours of electricity supply conducting a caste based census and resolving cases, against farmers.
