Elon Musk’s longstanding vision of creating an all-encompassing “everything app” known as X may be closer to becoming a reality. Musk has often discussed his ambition to develop an app that combines various functionalities, including payments, opinion sharing, and social connections. However, it was his unexpected acquisition of Twitter last year that set the stage for the transformation of the social media platform into the multifaceted “everything app” he has long envisioned.

Prior to Musk’s acquisition, Twitter primarily served as a platform for users to express themselves within the constraints of limited characters. Under Musk’s leadership, Twitter has undergone significant changes, allowing users to share lengthy videos, compose extended tweets, and subscribe to specific handles, among other enhancements. Now, a video shared by Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino confirms that users will soon have the capability to make payments directly on the platform.

In her tweet accompanying the video announcement, Yaccarino teased, “A hint of what’s to come. Who’s in?” The video, spanning two minutes, provides insights into the diverse range of activities users can currently engage in on X, as well as future possibilities. In addition to payments, the video hints at the introduction of video calling features, expanding communication options beyond text-based interactions.

Furthermore, X will soon offer users the ability to explore job opportunities through the platform, broadening its utility.

Recently, Elon Musk, the owner of X, hinted at the prospect of introducing a small monthly fee for users to access the app. During a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Musk indicated that this fee would be implemented as a measure to counter the proliferation of bots on the platform. He stated, “It’s the only way I can think of to combat vast armies of bots,” as reported.

The evolving vision for X suggests that it is poised to become a comprehensive and multifunctional platform, reshaping the way users interact and engage in various activities online.
