Kolkata: After conquering Bengal with a dominant lead of 213 seats, TMC will be forming the government again for the third time in a row. The opponent party BJP, though lost, gave an intriguing fight to the powerful TMC party members.

Today, on May 5, Mamata Banerjee is set to take oath as the chief minister on her hat-trick term, even though she lost her seat to Subhendu Adhikari in Nandigram. To hold the position, she has to win an assembly election in the next 6 months.

As per the latest reports, Mamata Banerjee has arrived at the Raj Bhavan for the ceremony, which will be a low-key affair with minimum guests and party members. Due to the rise in covid cases, the number of invitees has been reduced and made low-key.

In contrast to her taking oath, opponent party BJP’s state chief Dilip Ghosh is set to hold a protest at their Hastings office to seek justice for BJP party members who became the target of post-poll violence.

Mamata Banerjee is administered the oath by the Governor of WB Jagdeep Dhankar. As per the latest updates, in the oath ceremony, she says, “My first priority is tackling the Covid pandemic. I will go to Nabanna now and hold a meeting about the measures we are talking about in this crisis… I will hold a press conference at 3 pm and let you know what measures we are taking”.

She further added, “My second priority is to tackle law and order in the state… I appeal to all political parties to refrain from any sort of violence… I will be posting special officers to handle the situation… We will handle the situation sternly”.

Meanwhile, PM Narendra Modi congratulates Mamata Banerjee on taking oath for the third time as West Bengal’s Chief Minister.
