Raipur: A consignment of COVISHIELD arrived at Raipur today morning. The state received 2 lakh vaccination vials after several vaccination centres were shut down due to exhaustion.

Vaccination centres at Sundar Nagar, Khokhopara, Shankar Nagar ran out of stock on Wednesday after a mass attendance was registered for vaccination, reported media room Lalluram.com.

The Chhattisgarh government ordered 5 million shots of both vaccines to inoculate the adults above 18 under the third phase of the nationwide vaccine drive. The CM on Wednesday delineated the new strategies the state plans, to cover maximum population of the state.

The medical staff is being trained in order to execute smooth operations of the third phase, said CM Bhupesh. He also stated the vaccination to be free of cost for all.

The state health bulletin presented 15,563 new infections after the RT-PCR tests. This took the overall count to 6,97,902 infections since the outbreak. A similar figure of recuperations was also reported after medical treatments.

Raipur reported the highest number of infections and stood first in the active count category with 10,812 infections overall. 279 COVID linked deaths were reported with 77 of them documented from the worst-hit region of the state Raipur.
