Corona Horror: The Common Man Suffers as Top-Notch Hospitals Deny Admissions due to shortage of beds and staff

India: Amidst the shortage of amenities to treat COVID patients’ hospitals, have now started to deny admission to new COVID patients.

With the short-term supply of oxygen in the premises, Delhi’s Max Hospital has barred admissions of COVID-19 patients from today. The Twitter handle of the hospital stated,” We regret to inform you that we are suspending any new patient admissions in all our hospitals in Delhi NCR till oxygen supplies stabilize.”

During the first batch depletion, the hospital made headlines on its issues with the INOX over delayed oxygen supply. It Tweeted,” SOS – Less than an hour’s Oxygen supplies at Max Smart Hospital & Max Hospital Saket. Awaiting promised fresh supplies from INOX since 1 am. Over 700 patients admitted need immediate assistance.” and tagged Prime Minister’s Office, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The Government-owned AIIMS at Madhya Pradesh also denied admissions to common COVID patients. The hospital agreed on providing quality treatment to all patients amidst the surge. This led to patients arriving from far-flung areas. However, with the shortage of facilities, the hospital now demands a recommendation for a common man to get himself treated at the hospital. Accommodating around 200 ICU beds and 300 general ward beds, the hospital stopped treating non-covid patients on April 19.
