New Delhi: The country recorded another lot of 3.32 lakh new infections consecutively today, ranking India the second most affected nation globally. As per MoHFW, the mortality count rose to 1,86,929 after 2,257 deaths occurred.
Maharashtra the worst affected state-reported around 67,013 fresh cases of Coronavirus taking that tally over 40,94,840. State health bulletin registered around 568 deaths and 62,298 recuperations. Subsequently, Kerala recorded 26,995 new cases which mark the biggest ever single-day spike since the outbreak.
The neighbouring state Karnataka reported 25000 fresh cases while the state capital logged over 1.37 lakh active cases. At around 3 am fire broke at a Covid-19 hospital in Vasai, on Friday claiming the lives of at least 13 patients. Twenty-one patients including those in critical condition have been shifted to another hospital. As per sources the mishap occurred due to short-circuit in the Air-conditioner.
25 serious patients of COVID succumbed to death at the Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi. Overall, 306 deaths were reported from India’s capital city. The hospital announced an emergency at 8 am today morning informing that the oxygen supply would run out in 2 hours risking 60 more patients. To which the centre took charge and supplied oxygen tankers to the hospital.
Haryana levied new restrictions on its markets permitting them to function only till 6 pm today. Non-social gatherings have also been restricted.
Several countries have banned flyers from India due to its rising COVID caseload. While UAE has suspended all flights from India including the transit passengers. Canada also announced a suspension of flights from India and Pakistan for the coming 30 days.
Calling the current public health crisis a “national emergency”, the Supreme Court on Thursday asked the centre to frame a “national plan” on oxygen supply, essential drugs, and method of vaccination.
