Bollywood: The team of Thalaivi announced the news of postponing the release of the movie due to the rise in corona cases across the country. The movie was designated for release on April 23 and the trailer also got released on due time. But as the second wave of the coronavirus has hit hard, the release of the film has been halted.
The official statement from the team read as follows, “As a team, we have sacrificed a lot in making this film and thank every member of the cast and crew who supported us in this challenging but remarkable journey. Since the film has been made in multiple languages, we would like to release it in all languages on the same day”. They further added, “But with an alarming rise in COVID-19 cases, subsequent precautions and lockdowns, even though our film is ready for release on 23rd April, we want to extend all the support towards the government rules and regulations and have decided to postpone the release of Thalaivi.”
The movie shows the life story of the former Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalitha. Kangana looked intriguing playing the character in the trailer. The team did not provide another release date for the movie and concluded by saying, “Though we are deferring the release date, we are confident that we will receive as much love from you all then as well. Stay safe, and look forward to everyone’s support”.
