Lucknow: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi titled the Central Board of Secondary Education’ irresponsible’ after they announced exams amidst the resurgence. The development came in when the board assured worried students of adequate safety and observation of COVID-19 guidelines during the session.

CBSE released its schedule in December 2020, for the 10 and the 12 board exams. According to which, exams will begin from May 4 and end on June 7 and June 15 respectively. Over a lakh student of classes 10 and 12 had earlier signed petitions urging the government to either cancel the exams or to hold them online. The hashtag “cancelboardexams2021” has been trending on Twitter over the past few days. 

Sources reveal CBSE said,” The number of exam centres has been increased by 40-50 per cent to ensure social distancing. The staff at exam centres is being sanitized to ensure all guidelines are followed.”
Disheartened by the decision of the board, the Congress General Secretary of UP posted her view on Twitter saying, “Board exams should either be cancelled, rescheduled or arranged in a manner that does not require the physical presence of children at crowded exam centres.” According to her the exams should either be cancelled or held  in a digital format to avoid physical contact.
