Dhaka: PM Modi on the 2nd day of his two-day visit to the Bangla Nation visited the Shaktira Jeshoreshwari temple. Later he is scheduled to visit Tungipara, the mausoleum of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. PM Modi will be received by Bangabandhu’s daughter and Bangladesh premier at her ancestral home.
After Orakandi will witness his presence, a native place of Matua community founder Harichand Thakur. The Indian counterpart of the Matua community majorly dominated the West Bengal region, with the community holding sway over 35 Assembly seats in the state.
The PM will call off his visit by having one on one talks with Sheikh Hasina. The delegation-level talks and signing of MoUs will follow the meeting between the top leaders.
Narendra Modi embarked on his first international journey post-pandemic. The Bangladesh PM invited her Indian counterpart on the 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Bangladesh; and 50 years of Bangladesh’s war of liberation and celebration of the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Soon after his arrival, he visited the National Martyrs’ Memorial to pay homage to the martyrs of the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971. Later he convened with the community leaders including representatives of Minorities in Bangladesh, Bangladeshi Mukhti Joddha S, Friends of India and Youth Icons. He also met political leaders from the 14-party alliance along with the convener.
