New Delhi: A BJP MLA from Himachal Pradesh was found dead at his residence in Delhi. Mr Ram Swaroop Sharma 62 was found hanging in his room after the police arrived at the spot. The official reported,” He was found hanging inside his room, which was locked from inside. No suicide note has been found.”

Sources reveal that the politician’s assistant reached the police control room after receiving no response from the deceased member. After which a police team reached his residence and force opened the door to find him hanging through the ceiling fan.

Mr. Sharma had been a two-time MP.  He was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Mandi parliamentary constituency in 2014 and 2019. RS Sharma has served as organising secretary of Mandi district BJP, and later of the state BJP of Himachal.

He has also served as a Vice Chairman of the Himachal State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation. The 62-year-old leader was an active member of RSS. In 2014 and 2019, Sharma won the Mandi Lok Sabha seat for the BJP. In 2019, he won the parliamentary election by a huge margin of over 4 lakh votes

The Party cancelled its parliamentary meeting for the day, while the police investigate the cause of suicide. The body has been sent for post-mortem. MoS Finance and Corporate Affairs Anurag Thakur, who hails from Himachal Pradesh, had reached Sharma’s residence in Delhi’s North Avenue.
