New Delhi: India recorded 1,13,85,158 since the outbreak of COVID-19. In the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry reported 26,513 fresh cases. The death count has increased to 1,58,762; out of which 120 recent deaths were noted.

On the contrary, the recovery rate has dropped to 96.7%; registering 17,590 new recuperations. The tally of the recuperated citizens now stands at 1,10,05,445. Out of the total confirmed cases, 2,16,297 individuals are reported to be active spreaders. 

The number of infections reported today is the highest daily rise since December 20 when as many as 26,624 new infections were recorded.

Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka, and Gujarat are the five states which have recorded the highest number of cases in the last 24 hours.  The country has been witnessing a spiking rise in its infectious counts from more than a month now. 

Maharashtra has been reporting a consistent rise recording 16,620; highest number of cases in the country over the past one year. The state government has imposed partial lockdown and night curfews across several districts. Registering 1,26,231 active cases, the centre has cautioned the citizens to adhere to COVID regulations.

Despite registering 27.8 Lakh vaccines under the mega inoculating drive the state’s COVID trajectory daunts the Health Ministry of India.A total of 2,91,92,547 vaccine doses have been administered, out of which 73,31,498 HCWs have taken the first dose; 42,58,297 HCWs were administered the 2nd dose, 72,96,474 FLWs (1stdose), 10,53,732 FLWs (2nd dose), 78,66,241 beneficiaries more than 60 years old ,and 13,86,305 beneficiaries aged 45 and above with specific co-morbidities.
