New Delhi: India’s COVID-19 active count has reached at 1,52,849 the Union Health Ministry said, highlighting the surge across the country. A total of 16,562 new cases have been recorded in the span of 24 hours. The cumulative count of confirmed cases stands at 1,10,63,038.

On the positive side, the number of recuperated individuals after being discharged from the hospital is noted as 12,203 summing the total count to 1,07,48,759.

AS per MoHFW, the country records another day of the spike in its mortality rate registering 1,56,861 deaths to date. Globally, there have been 112,209,815 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 2,490,776 deaths, reported to WHO. 

The Centre has deployed high multidisciplinary teams to Maharashtra, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Punjab, and Madhya Pradesh to ascertain the surge and co-ordinate with these state health departments in containing the spread. 

The States are ordered to take aggressive measures to break the chain of transmission and penalize laxative citizens. RT-PCR test has been mandated for inter-state travels.

Meanwhile,8,31,807 infected samples have been tested in the last 24 hours. The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccines administered to health care and frontline workers in the country has reached 1,26,71,163. From March 1st, the Union Health ministry has announced to inoculate individuals aged 60 years and above, and 45 years presenting comorbidities.
