India, on Tuesday, has reportedly recorded the lowest caseload in its 24 hours tally since June 11. “Of the total number of people vaccinated against COVID-19 so far, 0.18 percent were adverse events following immunization, while 0.002 percent had to be hospitalized, which is fairly low”, stated the MoHFW in a press conference on Tuesday.

V K Paul who is a NITI Aayog Member (health) remarked – “Concerns about adverse effects and serious problems post-immunization as of now seem to be unfounded, negligible, insignificant and stressed that both the vaccines are safe”; while Rajesh Bhushan, the Union Health Secretary has claimed that India has set a record by vaccinating the highest number of people in its first 2 days of inoculation drive.

According to a report released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday, “Till now 4,54,049 people have been vaccinated in India”. Since the beginning of the nationwide inoculation drive, the states have reported 580 adverse cases, while 2 persons aged 52-years and 42-years died after getting the vaccination shots. Their deaths were reportedly caused by cardiopulmonary disease.

On the other hand, earlier on Monday, the Centre flagged the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu and ordered them to rectify their poor performances, as it vaccinated below 25% population of the ‘priority group’, as a ‘vaccine hesitancy’ could have been witnessed among the healthcare and frontline workers. Punjab and Chhattisgarh were also marked by the government for giving ‘poor performance’ in the vaccination drive.
