India: MoHFW on their official website has published the latest record of nationwide COVID-19 cases, according to which, 16,085 fresh cases have been recorded from all the states and union territories of India. With this, the overall case surge in the country has reached 1,04,67,431. The overall count of current active cases is 2,19,788, which includes all the states and union territories.

16,735 recoveries in the last 24 hours have taken the overall count of the recovered population to 1,00,92,130. On the other hand, 150 deaths from this viral disease have been recorded in the latest count, taking the overall death toll of the country to 1,51,198. 

In the meantime, a virtual video conference has been scheduled by the Prime Minister’s Office, in which Prime Minister Modi will be on talk with Chief Ministers of all the states over the COVID-19 situation, as well as the vaccination rollout. The virtual meeting will take place on Monday (Jan 11).

Notably, a volunteer (42) from Bhopal died around 10 days after administering in the clinical trial for Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin, on which the organization has recently given their remark, stating, “The volunteer, at the time of enrolment, had fulfilled all the inclusion and exclusion criteria to be accepted as a participant in the Phase III trial and was reported to be healthy in all the site follow up calls post 7 days of his dosing and no AEs were observed or reported”.
