Raipur: A woman died, and several other people were injured after a bus overturned, ferrying 50 passengers, near Lakhanpur on the Ambika-Bilaspur National Highway in the hours of Monday.

“Soon after the accident, villagers reached the spot and rescued the passengers trapped in the bus. The injured were admitted to Community Health Centre Lakhanpur, and later four persons have been referred to Ambikapur Medical College as their condition became critical,” said Shishir Kant Singh (TI) Lakhanpur.

According to the report, the bus driver lost control of the bus, and the accident occurred, injuring several passengers in the early morning. The passengers were found trapped in the bus and were immediately admitted to the Lakhanpur hospital.

Among them, the condition of four passengers is severely critical, and they have been referred to the Ambikapur Medical College, Lakhanpur. Reports say that the bus was carrying laborers from Naya Baradwar of Janjgir- Champa district of Chhattisgarh.

Earlier on the eve of the new year, a road crash claimed the lives of three migrant laborers when an ill-fated bus collided with a truck at Nanghat near Bilaspur District.
