Reliance Industries and British multinational oil and gas company BP have come together to form a pact to develop India’s deep water gas production in east India. The project will have 3 fields and RIL will have a 66.67 percent share while BP will have a 33.33 percent share in the project.
R cluster is the first field of the three projects located about 60 kms from the existing “KG D6 ” field on the Kakinada coast of east India. It is supposed to process “2.9 million standard cubic metres” of water gas per day in the coming year.
Stating that he is happy with the partnership, RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani said, “We are proud of our partnership with BP that combines our expertise in commissioning gas projects expeditiously under some of the most challenging geographical and weather conditions”. He is looking forward to a better partnership together.
Bernard Looney, BP’s chief executive said, “Growing India’s own production of cleaner-burning gas to meet a significant portion of its energy demand, these three new KG D6 projects will support the country’s drive to shape and improve its future energy mix”. India is going to get 25 percent more water gas produced by next year with this project.
