New Delhi: As the amendments being proposed by the Centre do not satisfy the farmer unions, they have decided today to intensify their agitation and called for ‘Bharat Bandh’ on the 8th of December.

The General Secretary of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, H.S. Lakhowal has said that they will burn effigies of the members of the Modi government on December 5. Lakhowal said, “Yesterday, we told the Government that the farm laws should be withdrawn. We have given a call for Bharat Bandh on December 8”.

The General Secretary of All India Kisan Sabha, Hannan Mollah, stated – “We need to take this protest forward. Government has to take back the farm laws.” The farmer leaders held the 4th round of talks with the Centre on Thursday, where the government suggested some amendments to the three farm laws.

The Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said after the talks that the Centre had no ego and it was open-mindedly discussing the issues with the farmers.
