Srinagar: Two soldiers have been martyred today in a terrorist attack, which took place in the outskirts of Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir), at the HMT area near an army camp.

According to Vijay Kumar, the Inspector General of Police, both of the soldiers were critically injured and rushed to the Army Hospital. Unfortunately, none of the soldiers could be saved. The soldiers belonged to the ROP (Road Operating Party). 

“Terrorists fired at army men at HMT, injuring two soldiers. Initial reports suggest terrorists were in a car in Cambo uniform and fired indiscriminately injuring them both critically. They were immediately rushed to 92 base Army Hospital Srinagar.” – stated an official.

More reinforcement rushed to the spot soon immediately after the attack, the entire area was sealed and a search operation was launched to capture the attackers. Senior security officials rushed to the spot as well. But they failed to nab any of the terrorists.

IGP Vijay Kumar said – “Two soldiers were injured in the attack and reportedly got martyred. We are ascertaining the facts. It is being said that three terrorists were in the car and we are following them. They were three terrorists and two had arms. Two of them could be foreign terrorists and one local.”

The terrorists attacked the army camp just two days prior to the first phase of polling of the DDC election.
