Patna: Bihar is set to reappoint the NDA (National Democratic Alliance), Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today as he visited the state for the fourth time after the beginning of a wild political race a month ago.
His comments came in the midst of casting a vote in 94 of the state’s 243 assembly seats for the second of the three-phased state polls, the biggest in India since the novel coronavirus pandemic began.
“Bihar has given a clear message,based on the underlying data we’re getting, that the state is set to re-elect the NDA government. Voters here have decided they’ll take the state to newer heights,” the Prime Minister, who is the de-facto face of the NDA, said while addressing a poll rally in Araria.
The return of “double-engine” government will help the state progress at a faster pace, PM Modi said today, yet again attacking RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav with a reference he often uses to hit out at the NDA’s chief ministerial candidate – Nitish Kumar. Repeating his “double yuvraj” jibe at Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi, the Prime Minister asserted “they’ve been rejected by the state.”
Meanwhile, Bihar records 32.82 per cent voter turnout till 1 pm in the second phase of elections on Tuesday.
Voting is underway for the crucial second phase of the Bihar assembly elections in which over 2.85 crore voters are eligible to decide the fate of nearly 1,500 candidates across 94 assembly segments on Tuesday.
A voter turnout of 55.69% was recorded in the first phase of Bihar assembly polls held on October 28, the Election Commission said in its provisional data. Polling was held 71 assembly constituencies amid tight security and COVID-19 guidelines in place.
