New Delhi: As the Globe continues to grapple with the debilitating virus, Worldwide Covid-19 cases topped 33 million as infections in India reached the 6 million mark. As many as 9.96 lakh have succumbed to the infection across the globe.
USA still remains the worst hit country in the world with around 7,321,343 infected cases and over 204,700 deaths have been registered. At number 2, India stands with 6,074,703 infected cases and 95,542 death toll meanwhile
Brazil is at third position to be vastly affected by this pandemic with 4,732,309 positive cases. However, Brazil currently accounts for the second highest number of fatalities at 141,741
The other top 15 countries with the maximum amount of cases are Russia (1,146,273), Colombia (813,056), Peru (800,142), Mexico (730,317), Spain (716,481), Argentina (711,325), South Africa (670,766), France (552,473), Chile (457,901), Iran (446,448), the UK (437,517), Bangladesh (359,148), Iraq (349,450) and Saudi Arabia (333,193), the CSSE figures showed.
Notably, An analysis of the novel coronavirus pandemic indicated that every 250th person on Earth is now infected by the deadly virus.
The current world population is 7.8 billion as of September 2020. This data is based according to the most recent United Nations estimates elaborated by Worldometer.
Tass news agency reported on Sunday that 37,000 Covid-19 deaths took place in the last seven days, taking the overall fatalities to 9,83,000.

India’s coronavirus tally on Monday crossed the 60-lakh mark after 82,170 new cases were reported across the country. Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan Sunday said the Indian Council of Medical Research’s second sero-survey shows that Indians are still far from achieving herd immunity against Covid-19 infection.He also stressed that masks should be worn even in places of worship.
During an interaction with his social media followers, the minister said the ICMR is actively researching on reports of COVID-19 reinfection and although the number of such cases is quite negligible at this moment, the government is aware of the importance of the matter, the health ministry said in a statement.
