New Delhi: The deadly novel coronavirus in India soon to cross the mark of 55 lakh. From past few days, the cases being recorded is more than 85,000. With 86,961 new cases, lowest in six days, the infection tally in India gas risen to 54,87,581.As many as 1130 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours pushing the toll in the country to 86,961.
There are 10,03,299 cases still active nationwide but on a positive aspect, A record set of 93,356 COVID-19 patients were declared cured in a single day. The rate of recovery has improved to 80.12%.With this, 39,63,399 people have recovered so far.
Even as India continues to register the highest number of daily Covid-19 cases in the world, there is something that the country can cheer about. With 19 per cent of all global recoveries, India now has the highest number of total coronavirus recoveries in the world. Another silver lining is the low fatality rate, which has now fallen to 1.6 per cent.
The health ministry has said India, the second worst-hit country, has the highest number of recovered Covid-19 patients globally “India occupies the top position in the world in terms of total recoveries. More than 43 lakh have recovered. India’s recoveries constitute 19% of the total global recoveries,” the ministry said.
Nearly 6.50 crore Covid-19 samples have been tested in India, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research. 6,43,92,594 have been tested up to September 20 including 7,31,534 samples tested on Sunday.
The overall number of global coronavirus cases was nearing the 31 million mark, while the deaths have increased to almost 960,000, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
As of Monday morning, the total number of cases stood at 30,918,269 and the fatalities rose to 959,332, the University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.The US is the worst-hit country with the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 6,799,044 and 199,474, respectively, according to the CSSE.
