Indo-China: India, China Statements Seek to Ease Border Tension in Eastern Ladakh

New Delhi: China has said differences with India on the border issue along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh should be sifted through calmly.

The statement by China’s DéfenseMinistry representative Colonel Wu Qian comes after Foreign Minister S Jaishankar in a meeting to the site Rediff said the stalemate along the Line of Actual Control or LAC this year is “the most difficult circumstance after 1962”, when India and China battled a war.

Wu said in a statement, “Remembering the comprehensive view of bilateral ties and putting the border issue in a suitable situation in this big picture, India and China need to avoid misjudgement, shield divergences from growing into questions, and find a way to take respective relations back to the correct track of normal development,”. 

India and China have had a few rounds of military and discretionary gatherings, with just restricted disengagementhaving occurred in parts of eastern Ladakh after a violent standoff in June. 

Twenty warriors passed on for India and about 40 Chinese fighters were killed or harmed in the conflict that broke out on June 15 at Galwan valley in eastern Ladakh. 

India and China have not had the option to concede to their 3,488-km-long border that runs from the snow deserts of Ladakh in the western area to thick forests and mountains in the east, regardless of a few rounds of talks throughout the long term. 

The Foreign Minister said that India has passed on to China clearly that peace and tranquillity in border territories are the reason for the relationship between the two neighbours.
