Mumbai: The much-awaited Sunny Deol film has taken Box Office by storm. The enthralling narrative combined with an impeccable star cast has resonated well propelling a second-weekend popularity with a box office collection of Rs. 389.10 crores in 11 days. SRK’s all-time blockbuster Pthan minted Rs. 401.4 crores in same time period.

Filmmaker Karan Johar has shared his thoughts on the tremendous success of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel’s latest film, Gadar 2.

In an interview with The Indian Express, Johar said that he was “blown away” by the film’s success. He said that it was a “testament to the power of good storytelling” and that it showed that “the audience is still hungry for big, patriotic films”.

Johar also praised the performances of Deol and Patel, saying that they had “brought their characters to life”. He said that the film was a “rollercoaster ride of emotions” and that it was “a must-watch for everyone”.

Gadar 2 is a sequel to the 2001 film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. The film tells the story of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol), a Sikh man who falls in love with Sakina (Ameesha Patel), a Muslim woman. The film has been a huge commercial success, grossing over ₹200 crore (US$26 million) at the box office.

Johar’s comments are a welcome boost for the Hindi film industry, which has been struggling in recent years. The success of Gadar 2 shows that there is still a market for big, commercial films in India.

Johar also said that he was glad that Gadar 2 had done well at the single screens. He said that the single screens are “the backbone of the industry” and that he was “happy to see them doing well”.

Another film rocking the box office over the globe is Jailer, a Rajnikanth-starrer Tamil film that surpassed the domestic collection of PS1 to become the second highest-grossing Tamil film after 2.0. the worldwide collection of this movie are reported to be around Rs. 515 crores.
