Mumbai: Constable Chetansinh Chaudhary, who gained notoriety for shooting his officer and three unsuspecting passengers aboard a moving train month, has officially been relieved of his duties. The announcement was made on Thursday by an official from the Railway Protection Force (RPF).

The decision to terminate Chaudhary’s employment was made this week following the directive issued by the divisional security commissioner of the RPF. It is worth mentioning that this was not an instance of misconduct involving Chaudhary. The official revealed that Chaudhary had been involved in three disciplinary incidents prior to this tragic event.

The unfortunate incident occurred during the hours of July 31 on the Jaipur Mumbai Central Superfast Express near Palghar station on the outskirts of Mumbai. Allegedly 34-year-old Chaudhary opened fire resulting in the death of his officer, Tikaram Meena, well as three passengers named Abdul Kadar Mohamed Hussain Bhanpurawala, Sayyad Saifuddin and Asgar Abbas Shaikh. These passengers were located in the compartments of the train when the shooting took place. Following this act, Chaudhary was promptly apprehended by the Government Railway Police (GRP). The motives behind such an act remain unclear.

According to the GRPs account, Chaudhary initially attacked RPF Assistant Sub Inspector Meena and a passenger, in the coach, with his service weapon. He then proceeded to shoot another person in the train’s pantry car. Finally, targeted another passenger in the S6 coach.
