Jagdalpur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel recently introduced the Millets Cafe in Jagdalpur as part of the Millets Mission initiative. This initiative aims to encourage people to include millets in their diet as they’re highly nutritious and offer health benefits. Baghel praised the women who have been passionately creating products using millet.

This unique cafe is managed by hardworking women who were previously involved in preparing tiffins. It offers a range of dishes made from millet. Visitors can enjoy options such as ragi chila, ragi dosa and famous beverages like mahua tea and kadha tea. This not provides the community with nutritious meal choices but also showcases the immense potential of millet.

During the inauguration, CM Baghel expressed his excitement about Chhattisgarh’s progress in millet cultivation. He stated, “Through the Millets Mission Chhattisgarh is rapidly becoming a leading hub for production in our country. Our farmers are diversifying their crops by incorporating kodo, kutki and ragi alongside paddy cultivation.”

Highlighting the state’s commitment to boosting production, Baghel shared that millets have been included in the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana. This scheme provides farmers with an incentive of Rs 9,000 per acre for cultivating millets.

He proudly declared that Chhattisgarh is the state in the country that provides a support price for kodo, kutki and ragi crops while also enabling value addition. This proactive strategy has increased farmers’ income, promoting growth and sustainability.
