Srinagar: In an operation conducted along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir Poonch district, security forces thwarted an infiltration attempt by terrorists belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen during the hours of Monday. The encounter resulted in the elimination of a terrorist known as Muneer Hussain, who hailed from Bagyladra Poonch.

Hussain’s association with Hizbul Mujahideen reveals that he had assumed the role of a self-proclaimed Division Commander after undergoing arms training in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Over time he had been actively involved in planning and executing attacks on security forces. Maintained close connections with key figures within the terrorist organization, including Maulana Dawood Kashmir and Syed Salahuddin, who is the founder of Hizbul Mujahideen.

The spokesperson for the Defense forces emphasized that reliable intelligence inputs indicated Hussain’s involvement in a meeting held by a group affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen, in Islamabad. The focus of this meeting was centered around reviving terrorism activities in Rajouri and Poonch regions. This incident serves as evidence of Pakistan’s efforts to send trained terrorists to Jammu and Kashmir with the intention of motivating and recruiting youth for their malicious activities.

During the counter-operation, two infiltrators were shot down, resulting in Muneer Hussain being neutralized. However, it remains unknown what happened to the infiltrator. This event highlights the difficulties that security forces encounter when dealing with infiltrations and the constant danger posed by organizations operating in the area. Authorities are actively staying watchful. Determined to prevent endeavors ensuring peace and stability, in Jammu and Kashmir are upheld.
