Mexico: A bus carrying foreigners and Mexican nationals plunged into a ravine in the southern state of Oaxaca on Friday, killing 18 people, including six Indians. The bus was carrying 35 passengers, including 12 foreigners when it veered off the road and fell into a 100-foot-deep ravine.

The dead included four French nationals, two Canadians, one Belgian, one Polish national, and six Indians. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital, where they are being treated for their injuries.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but authorities believe that the bus may have been speeding. The road where the accident occurred is known to be dangerous, and there have been several accidents in the area in recent years.

The Mexican government has expressed its condolences to the families of the victims. The Foreign Ministry said that it is working to provide assistance to the Indian nationals who were killed or injured in the accident.

This is the latest in a series of bus accidents in Mexico. In July, a bus carrying tourists plunged into a ravine in the state of Puebla, killing 13 people. And in June, a bus carrying students crashed into a truck in the state of Veracruz, killing 14 people.

The government has pledged to improve road safety in Mexico, but accidents continue to happen. In 2022, there were over 16,000 road deaths in Mexico, making it one of the most dangerous countries in the world to drive in.

The accident in Oaxaca is a reminder of the dangers of road travel in Mexico. If you are planning to travel to Mexico by bus, it is important to be aware of the risks and to take precautions.
