Pune: PM Narendra Modi received the Lokmanya Tilak Award at a ceremony held at the SP College ground in Pune on Tuesday. During the event there was a conversation, between PM Modi and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar. It is worth mentioning that Sharad Pawar, along with his nephew Ajit Pawar and Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, shared the stage during this function.
The Prime Ministers’ visit to Pune was quite eventful as he laid the foundation for development projects. Prior to that he also performed a ritual called “pooja” at the revered Dagdusheth Mandir adding a touch to his trip.
The Lokmanya Tilak National Award was established by the Tilak Smarak Mandir Trust in 1983 to honor Lokmanya Tilak, a reformer and Indian freedom activist. This prestigious award is presented every year on August 1st, which also commemorates Lokmanya Tilak’s death anniversary.
However, before the event took place several opposition parties such as Shiv Sena (Uddhav) and Congress made efforts to convince Sharad Pawar not to attend. Some members of these parties voiced concerns about attending an event where leaders, from the BJP were leaders they perceive as compromising the principles of Indian Constitution.
Despite being urged, Sharad Pawar decided to attend the event. It is highly likely that he had discussions, with PM Modi during their conversation focusing on matters of shared importance and interest. The ceremony brought together leaders from parties making it a noteworthy gathering, in the political realm.
