New Delhi: PM Modi opts for Delhi Metro to attend Delhi University’s centenary celebrations. Invited as the chief guest, he interacted with fellow passengers during the ride. The university’s centenary celebrations began on May 1, 2022, and PM Modi expressed his delight in sharing the metro journey with young individuals.

Taking to Twitter, PM Modi shared photos of his interaction with students inside the metro coach, stating, “Happy to have youngsters as my co-passengers.” In a separate tweet, he extended his congratulations to the DU fraternity for their century of nurturing talent and fostering intellectual growth.

As part of the program, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Delhi University Computer Centre, the Faculty of Technology building, and an academic block in the North Campus.

Established in 1922 through an Act of the Central Legislative Assembly, Delhi University is recognized as an Institute of Eminence by the University Grants Commission.

For the live telecast of the centenary celebrations attended by PM Modi, some Delhi University colleges have issued guidelines. These include no black dresses, compulsory attendance, and suspension of classes between 10 am to 12 pm. Hansraj College, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, and Zakir Husain Delhi College have made it mandatory for students and faculty to attend the live telecast of the event.
