Imphal: Rahul Gandhi reached Manipur despite Manipur Police halting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s convoy at Bishnupur while he was heading to meet the victims of Churachandpur. Gandhi reached Imphal for a two-day visit to conflict-ridden state through a chopper and departed for Churachandpur district where he visited the relief camps.
“I came to listen to all my brothers and sisters of Manipur. People of all communities are being very welcoming and loving. It’s very unfortunate that the government is stopping me. Manipur needs healing. Peace has to be our priority”, tweeted Rahul Gandhi.
Meanwhile Defence minister Rajnath Singh assailed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his ‘nafrat ka bazar’ and ;muhabbat ki dukan’ remarks. Addressing a rally in Yamunanagar, the defence minister who did not name Rahul Gandhi took a dig at Congress leader wondering what was happening with the Congress leaders as there was one its leader who said wherever he went that there was a market of hatred and that he had come to open a shop of love.
Around 50000 people are now staying in over 300 relief camps across the state since ethnic strife stated in May this year. Today, Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit relief camps in Imphal and hold talks with certain civil society organisations.
