The All-Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to immediately halt the screening of the film Adipurush and impose a ban on its exhibition in theaters as well as on OTT platforms in the future. In addition, the association has called for filing a First Information Report (FIR) against the director, Om Raut, writer Manoj Muntashir, and the film’s producers.

According to the AICWA, Adipurush’s screenplay and dialogues are allegedly defamatory to the image of Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman, hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus and followers of Sanatan Dharma. The association emphasizes that Lord Rama is revered as a deity by people of all religions in India and asserts that the movie’s portrayal of the characters resembles video game avatars, which has offended not only Indians but also individuals globally.

The letter concludes by stating the need for legal action to protect the image of Lord Rama, Goddess Sita, and the devotee Lord Hanuman. It suggests that the actors Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan should not have participated in the project.

The AICWA’s appeal to the Prime Minister reflects concerns regarding the potential misrepresentation of religious figures and their impact on sentiments and beliefs. The association seeks the intervention of authorities to address these concerns and protect the sanctity associated with revered deities.
