New Delhi– In a major crackdown on the drug trade in Delhi, the Delhi Police crime branch conducted raids at over 100 locations starting Monday night. Adhering to their promise of zero tolerance on drugs and working squarely in line with government policies, Delhi Police continues its mission against drugs within society. To tackle rising numbers of drug-related incidents, they have carried out concerted operations lately that focus on curbing illegal drug trafficking activity. This follows a previous function called ‘Operation Kavach’ on May 12, where 43 illegal drug smugglers and peddlers were apprehended.

The Delhi Police has been taking strict measures to tackle drug trafficking and trade, and they have been actively raising awareness among the youth about the dangers of drug abuse. In a significant development, the Delhi Police recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with XLRI Jamshedpur to collaborate on drug-related surveys and future action plans. This partnership aims to develop scientific and practical methods to enhance anti-drug awareness campaigns.

During ‘Operation Kavach’, 31 drug dealers and 12 illegal liquor smugglers were arrested. The police seized numerous drugs, including 35 kg of heroin, 15 kg of cocaine, 1500 hemp, 230 poppy, and 10 kg of charas. Additionally, they recovered 20 kg of other drugs and liquor. The total value of the recovered items was estimated to be worth crores of rupees.

By conducting multiple raids across different locations within the city, they remain vigilant in fighting this menace that poses significant hazards for individuals and communities alike. Additionally, creating public awareness is part of their continuous efforts to sensitize citizens about the serious ramifications attributed to drug abuse.
