New Delhi: Twenty-one Adheenams, including Dharmapuram Adheenam, Palani Adheenam, Virudhachalam Adheenam, and Thirukoyilur Adheenam, have departed from Chennai to attend the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building in Delhi. This significant event will witness Prime Minister Narendra Modi placing the historic and sacred “Sengol” in the Parliament House.
At least 21 opposition parties have announced their decision to boycott the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament building, which will be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi instead of President Droupadi Murmu. The opposition parties have strongly expressed their discontent, stating that the absence of President Droupadi Murmu during the inauguration is viewed as an insult to the esteemed office of the President and goes against the principles outlined in the constitution.
The opposition’s stance underscores their belief that the President, as the constitutional head of the state, should have been the one to inaugurate such a significant national landmark. They argue that this decision not only undermines the authority of the President but also disregards the constitutional protocol and the essence of democratic principles.
On Friday, the Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory for the inauguration of the new Parliament building on May 28. The advisory urges residents and commuters to make necessary adjustments and avoid the New Delhi district during the event. The restrictions will be placed from 5:30 AM to 3:00 PM on Sunday to ensure smooth proceedings and enhanced security. Only authorized vehicles such as public transport, labelled vehicles, emergency vehicles, and residents will be permitted to enter the New Delhi district during the specified time.
