KYIV: The Kremlin says “Ukrainian militants” are still active in Belgorod a day after Russian forces launched a “counterterrorism operation” following cross-border incursions from Ukraine –biggest since the attacks initiated.
Expressing ‘deep concerns’ Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, “Of course, what happened yesterday causes deep concern. This once again confirms that Ukrainian militants continue their activities against our country. This requires a lot of effort from us. These efforts continue, and the special military operation continues so as to prevent such incursions in the future. “
Twelve people have been injured as a result of an armed incursion in western Russia’s Belgorod region, authorities reported Tuesday.
Toretsk in the Donetsk region on Tuesday morning woke up to aerial bombings, infrastructure damage was reported with zero casualities.
On Twitter, Pavlo Kyrylenko, said, “This morning, the Russians struck Toretsk — fortunately, without casualties. A school and high rise buildings within a radius of 100 metres from the epicenter were damaged.
In the Meanwhile, Zelensky visited Ukrainian troops on the frontline in Donetsk after a trip to Japan and Saudi Arabia over the weekend.
“On his return from a foreign visit, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the frontline positions of the Ukrainian armed forces in the Vugledar-Maryinka defence line in Donetsk region,” the presidency said in a statement.
Fighting broke out in the Belgorod region on Monday, which borders Ukraine. While Kyiv has denied involvement in the attack, Ukrainian military intelligence representative Andrii Cherniak said Russian citizens belonging to the Russian Volunteer Corps and the Freedom of Russia Legion were behind the ongoing assaults.
