MUMBAI: The Rupee registered its longest decline on Friday ending 5 paise lower against the US Dollar. The domestic unit recorded its worst week in nine pulled down by a strong dollar on the back of a hawkish US Federal Reserve.
The local currency closed at 82.67 per dollar, after opening the day at 82.71 as compared to its previous close of 82.60 and finally settled at 82.67 (provisional), down 5 paise from its previous close. During the day, the rupee hit its lowest level since March 16 at 82.8010. For the week, the rupee ended 0.6% lower.
Meanwhile, crude oil prices were under pressure, with US crude falling 0.14% to $71.76 per barrel and Brent at $75.78, down 0.11%.
Gold prices eased Rs 105 to Rs 60,045 per 10 grams. On the other hand, Silver plummeted Rs 255 to Rs 73,500 per kg.
