NEW DELHI: Jailed AAP leader Satyendar Jain Monday moved SC challenging the Delhi HC order dismissing his bail plea in the money laundering case he is arrested for. Earlier, the Delhi High Court dismissed the bail plea of jailed minister saying he is an influential person and may tamper with evidence.

Sateyndar Jain was arrested in May last year based on a CBI FIR filed against him in connection with the money laundering case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The move comes just a few days after the jailed minister has written to the superintendent of Tihar Jail number 7 requesting a company. Jain had cited ‘depression due to loneliness’ and the’ need for more social interaction’ in his letter dated May 11th. Following Jain’s request, two prisoners were moved to his cell as the former psychiatrist suggested inmates for social interaction.

Meanwhile, a show cause notice has been issued to the SP for providing two cellmates to Jain without an order. The prisoners however have been shifted back to their cells. “Action has been initiated against the Superintendent of Jail No 7 for transferring two prisoners to the cell of former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain who requested to lodge him with at least two inmates citing depression and need for more social interactions. Inmates were immediately transferred back, said an official from Tihar Jail.”
