New Delhi: Hours after a scuffle broke out between protesting wrestlers and some police personnel at Jantar Mantar, Delhi Commission for Women chief Swati Maliwal met the grapplers and said that the DCW will take action based on the complaints she has received.

“Jantar Mantar has been converted into a cantonment. It is my constitutional responsibility and right to meet these women wrestlers but I am not allowed inside”, tweeted Swati Maliwal today morning.

The scuffle broke out at around 11PM on Wednesday night when the protesting wrestlers were bringing in folding beds for their night stay. An on-duty police personnel allegedly began enquiring about that. The Delhi Police has made heavy deployment of security personnel at Jantar Mantar with multiple barricades and also checking the vehicles at city border to stop large gathering at Jantar Mantar.

The wrestlers including the first woman to win Commonwealth Games medal for India in wrestling, Vinesh Phogat are sitting on Jantar Mantar since April 23 and have levelled allegation of Sexual harassment on Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
