RAIPUR: In view of the El Nino, the Met Dept has declared a yellow and orange alert across divisions in Chhattisgarh. Districts like Dhamtari, Balod, Rajnandgaon, Kondagaon, and Kanker have been issued an orange watch, while thunderstorms, lighting, and hailstorm are predicted across several other areas. A yellow alert has been issued in such locations.

In Madhya Pradesh, the rains and hail have caused heavy damage to the crops in Sardarpur tehsil of Dhar district which witnessed a heavy thunderstorm on Friday afternoon for more than half an hour.

Earlier on Friday, the IMD issued fresh alerts across MP predicting harsh weather and scattered showers for the next four days. Orange alerts were issued in view of thunderstorms, hail, and lightning along with gusty winds between 40 and 50 km per hour (KMPH) across east Madhya Pradesh.

A yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, and gusty winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 KMPH at isolated places in the western part of the state.

According to IMD Bhopal, Two western disturbances in the form of cyclonic circulations were lying over the south and north Pakistan, which were pumping in moisture from a trough lying from Maldives to central Maharashtra into Madhya Pradesh and its neighboring states.
