New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today extended his greetings to people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and prayed for the health and well-being of all citizens. “Greetings on Eid-ul-Fitr. May the spirit of harmony and compassion be furthered in our society. I also pray for everyone’s wonderful health and well-being. Eid Mubarak!”, tweeted PM Modi.

Meanwhile pictures from eid celebrations started pouring on social media, Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch decided to give it a miss. Sangiote village was the destination of the Indian Army truck which was ambushed on Thursday, leaving five soldiers dead. As the truck was carrying fruits and other items for iftar gatherings, Sarpanch of Sangiote panchayat Mukhtiaz Khan said, “Kya iftar jab hamare paanch jawan uss unfortunate haadse main shaheed ho gaye”. Sarpanch Mukhtiaz was among the ones invited for iftar gatherings.

Army personnel carried the mortal remains of late Naib Subedar Paramjit Singh for cremation at his village Vain Poin near Amritsar today. Singh was killed in the Pooch attack while he was patrolling in Krishna Ghati of Jammu and Kashmir.

As the nation celebrates Eid-ul-fitr and Akshay Tritya, it also stands in solidarity with the soldiers who had to sacrifice their lives in the brutal Poonch accident. The prime facie investigation in Poonch suggested the role of at least seven LeT terrorists and the investigation is till going on.
