NEW DELHI: India added 12,591 news COVID-19 cases  in the last 24 hours, 20 per cent higher than yesterday the ministry’s website read on Thursday. The cumulative COVID tally stood at 4.48 crore (44,857,992).

The country’s active caseload currently stands at 65,286 – 0.14% percent of the total cases. The daily positivity rate is at 5.46% while the weekly positivity rate was pegged at at 5.32%.

The fatality rate at 1.18 per cent reported 39 deaths taking the death toll 5,31,230. Four deaths were reported in Chhattisgarh, five in Delhi, two in Himachal Pradesh, three in Karnataka, one each in Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, and Punjab and six in Maharashtra, two in Rajasthan. In Kerala, two deaths were reported in the past 24 hours and 11 reconciled deaths were reported.

The national recuperative rate stood at 98.67 per cent. So far 4,42,61,476 individuals recovered from the disease.

According to the ministrys website- 220.66 crore beneficiaries have been immunized under the nationwide vaccination drive so far.

On Wednesday, a high-level meeting that was chaired by the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister to assess the Covid-19 situation in the country, the states of Kerala, Delhi, Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Rajasthan found a mention as these states are witnessing a rapid rise in Covid -19 cases.

The sudden increase in positivity was also highlighted along with the status of tests being conducted in the country. A detailed analysis of active cases within these eight states was presented. It was highlighted that approximately 92 per cent of the cases are under home isolation
