Raipur: Bhupesh Baghel, Chief Minister of Chattisgarh, wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to include a 76 percent caste quota bill in the 9th schedule today. Although this bill was approved in December 2022, Baghel wants the Prime Minister to have it in the 9th schedule of the Indian constitution. If it gets included in the ninth schedule, it means that protection will be given to the same from the Central and State judicial reviews.

The Chhattisgarh Governor still needs to approve the 76 pc bill. “Due to reservation, recruitment has stopped. the governor should take a quick decision”, tweeted CM Baghel with a video addressing the media.

Therefore, the quota bill is waiting for approval from the Governor. CM Baghel did this after Rahul Gandhi said, “jitni aabadi utna haq.” Rahul Gandhi said this during a poll session that took place in Karnataka. He wants the Government to clarify the UPA Government caste consensus by making it public. This was released in 2011, and Rahul Gandhi wants it to be shared so that the percentage of OBCs in the population is precise.

After listening to Rahul Gandhi’s poll session, Baghel writes to PM Modi to increase the caste quota for the SC, ST, and OBCs in Chattisgarh. In the letter, Baghel mentioned the prevailing caste quota system, which totaled 58 percent. But in September 2022, the High Court passed a bill with 13% for SCs, 32% for STs, 27% for OBCs, and 4% for EWS. This bill is yet to be approved by the Governor of Chattisgarh.

As the bill is not yet been approved, it is causing trouble to the individuals. The recruitment process is taking place through a poll-bound area, and the Government wants this issue to be solved as soon as possible. The bill was passed in September 2022, under Anusuiya Uikey. However, now the bill passing is delayed as her position has been taken by Biswabhushan Harichandran.
