Bastar: As Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi visited Bastar in Chhattisgarh, Naxalites set ablaze two tipper vehicles engaged in ballast transportation on Gangalur road near Padeda village in Bijapur. The incident was reported in Gangalur police station and the local police reached the spot.

Sources reveal that the driver and the conductor are safe. The vehicles belonged to Bijapur contractor Suresh Chandrakar. Addressing the incident at the Samelan, Priyanka Gandhi said that the state which was earlier known for Naxalite violence has now transformed into a brand of arts and other products. She further added that Bhupesh-Baghel led government has worked to make people of the state, particularly women self-reliant.

Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi visited Bastar for the first time. The ruling Congress in the state was keen as the party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi visited the tribal-dominated Bastar region for the first time. She will address the public meeting by participating in ‘Bharose Ka Sammelan’ about 300km south of Raipur, as an informal launch of their poll campaign in the state.

PCC Chief Mohan Markam and Excise Minister Kawasi Lakhma were monitoring Priyanka’s visit. Urban local bodies Minister Shiv Dahria, Education minister Dr. Prem Sai Singh Tekam, higher education minister Umesh Patel and most cabinet ministers and many bog leaders of Congress will participate in the programme.
